The Nether Providence Township Board of Commissioners unanimously approved the township’s 2016 budget at their December meeting.
The $6.85 million dollar budget calls for the smallest tax increase in recent years with at 1.02%. The millage rate will increase from 4.91 mills per $1,000 of assessed value to 4.97 mills. This follows recent township tax increases of 2.9% in 2015, 2.04% in 2014, and 6.7% in 2013. The major budget expenditures for 2016 are the Police Department at $2.3 million and the Public Works Department at $1.34 million. The total budget will increase approximately $200,000 from 2015’s $6.65 million
Also approved was a 2.5% increase in annual sewer fees from $408 to $416.
